The Oakland Athletics is a professional baseball team located in Oakland, California, and the team plays as a member of the West division of the American League in the MLB (Major League Baseball). The team was founded in 1901 in Philadelphia as one of the AL's 8 charter franchises.

Finley later sold the team to Walter A. Haas Jr., and thereafter the team won three consecutive pennants along with the World Series in 1989. The "Bash Brothers"- Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco captured the fans' hearts at the game. The team also had Hall of Famers Rickey Henderson, Dennis Eckersley, and Tony La Russa (manager).
